Recent discoveries in paleontology
Andrew Du, a postdoctoral scholar in the lab of Zeray Alemseged (Donald N. Pritzker Professor of Organismal Biology and Anatomy) published a paper in Science Advances concluding that Australopithecus sediba is most likely not a direct ancestor of Homo.  Read more about this impactful discovery in At The Forefront, and in the popular press at Gizmodo, among other sources.
